****The Big Spring Clean****
Our school participated in ‘The Big Spring Clean’. We wore earth colours to school to remind us how important the environment is. The children in our school worked together as a team to help make our school grounds cleaner and healthier. We picked up litter, weeded and planted lots of bulbs. It was a great day!
Our topic is Africa. We have had so much fun learning about this very interesting continent! We hope you have as much fun looking at our photographs as we have had learning about Africa!
ACTIVITY BASED LEARNING
We created an African rainforest in the tuff spot!
We have really enjoyed exploring Africa during our Literacy lessons. Learning is fun!
We designed story maps based on a Traditional African Tale called ‘Mufaro’s Beautiful Daughters’. We worked in groups and listened to each other’s ideas. We know how important it is to take turns during group work.
We have been learning all about time! We used a timer to check how many times we could do things in one minute! Ready-Set-GO!!
We played fun games to help us learn our doubles. We love working with our partners to help us learn!
THE WORLD AROUND US
Getting to grips with the world around us!
We explored how Fair-trade helps the people living in poorer countries. We look out for the logo when we are helping with the shopping!
ART AND DESIGN
We were very busy making animal masks of the characters from our favourite story ‘Handa’s Surprise.’
We really enjoyed painting the flags of different African countries! We used an atlas to help us.
PHYSICAL DEVELOPMENT AND MOVEMENT
During the snowy weather, we explored making snowflakes using different body shapes. We had to balance in different positions. It was really challenging!
FESTIVE FUN FOR EVERYONE
Our topic was Christmas. We have been learning lots of interesting facts about different Christmas traditions around the world.
We have been busy making lots of festive decorations.
Look at our beautiful snow globes!
We also made Christmas tree decorations using old light bulbs!
First of all we had to cover our light bulbs in layers of newspaper and glue. Then when the paper mache had set, we painted the decorations and covered them with colourful glitter. They were beautiful!
A CLOSE UP OF OUR MASTERPIECES!
We think our loved ones will always treasure these! We even wrote our own gift tags!
We were learning about giving and following instructions. We followed special instructions to make Jolly Marshmallow Snowmen.
We gathered the ingredients and followed the ‘What to do’ section very carefully as we went along. It was a very busy day!
We were delighted with our cookery masterpieces! They were yummy!
